BEECH

- Working Properties: Hard, dense, stable. Medium resistance to machine and finishing. Can be challenging when nailing or screwing.

- Botanical Name: Quercus alba
- Working Properties: Heavy, hard, strong with pronounced grain. Takes nails and screws well.
- Durability: The heartwood is durable and extremely resistant to preservative treatment. The sapwood is moderately resistant
- Density: 700–900 kg/m³
- Notes: Ideal for furniture, cabinetry, strip flooring. Not ideal for outdoor use as can discolour.

EUROPEAN OAK
- Botanical Name: Quercus robur
- Working Properties: Has a moderate to severe blunting effect on cutters, takes waxing, liming, fuming and polishing treatments very well filled and has very
little shrinkage. - Durability: Very durable, resistant to decay.
- Density: 750–900 kg/m³
- Notes: Used in flooring, furniture, boat building, gateposts. Better suited for outside use than American oak.
